Mike Madden, President
Term 2017 – 2019
August Conte, Vice President
In 2011, August Conte formed Contechnical, Inc. (www.contechnical.com) for two business purposes:
- Commission-based sales of AlarmCAD software, the product of my previous employer, MEPCAD, Inc.
- Providing CAD drawings for alarm system contractors and installers.
Although Mr. Conte’s focus has been in management and sales, he continues to be technically astute in the profession. Through his years in the business August has been involved in every “hands on” aspect from fabrication and manufacturing through service and installation. His belief is that if he understands what his people do he can either sell it more effectively or appreciate what they do to a greater degree. Both are critical to management success. He understand the aspects of design/build and direct relationships with the end user. His experience in this area combined with effective organization and communication with employees and clients are key to conducting a profitable business.
Gene Rowe, Treasurer
Gene Rowe serves as the Director of Business Development for Affiliated Fire Systems, Inc. He brings twenty four years of fire alarm and emergency voice systems experience to the board with both an operational and marketing viewpoint. A US Army veteran, NICET certified and a member of the NFPA, he began his career establishing operational expertise as a technician, developed graphic skills with CAD design as a general engineer, gained a ‘big picture’ mindset by moving to project management and finally a marketing perspective directing business development efforts. By interfacing with a broad range of diverse organizations such as the CAA, AIA, CEA and the IFIA, he combines concerns of the owner, designer of record, contractor, distributor and approving authority to bring a unique perspective to the board.
An avid marathon runner, he resides in the western Chicago suburbs with his wife and two sons, serving the community as a Cub Scout Cubmaster and Den Leader, as well as coaching multiple levels of travel & park district basketball and baseball teams.
